Meet mrcantile Founder & Chief SMB Advocate, Morgan Cornelius

I’m Morgan Cornelius, founder of mrcantile, a marketing collective that specializes in connecting companies with entrepreneurs, makers, and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs in corporate lingo) through strategic marketing initiatives.

I am an SMB advocate and evangelist who loves working with local businesses. Given my passion, I am fortunate to have developed and shared my extensive SMB  knowledge and enthusiasm at some of the biggest companies in the tech arena, including Yelp, Instagram, and Twitter.

Over the past fifteen years, I’ve forged fruitful relationships and brand loyalty between SMBs and technology platforms, developing and launching go-to-market strategies to scale product adoption. I love product marketing, strategic programming, community building, and influencing the look and feel (UX/UI) of products to ensure they benefit the businesses they're designed to attract. Taking a community-centered approach keeps me attuned to the needs, pain points, and priorities of this audience, allowing me to identify mutually beneficial marketing initiatives. I am ready to help your business connect with entrepreneurs, makers, and SMBs, in both domestic and international markets.

On a personal note, I loved living in Seattle, Los Angeles, Scottsdale, San Francisco, and Denver before settling in my hometown of Portland, Oregon, where my husband and I are raising our sons. When not working, you can find me somewhere in nature having an adventure day with my family or inside on Sundays meal prepping. You might also find me on a dance floor starting a soul train or busting out "the worm," which always gives me pure, unadulterated joy.

If your business has a set of products or upcoming initiatives targeting SMBs, I'd love to discuss your goals and have fun making marketing magic happen.

  • "Morgan grew Yelp's Small Business Advisory Council (YSBAC) year over year while making it fun and informative for all parties involved. She regularly emphasized the importance of listening to our customers (aka local businesses) and leveraging their feedback to help inform our product roadmap and build empathy internally."
